A speculative two-family residence of approximately 4400 sf maximizes its site but allows for southern solar exposure and privacy for each residential unit. Autocourts and entries for each unit have been carefully placed to give the appearance of a single-family residence from the street, as well as, provide each unit with their own landscaped outdoor spaces. Built off-site as individual modules, emphasis was placed on creating a design that was not modular in character. Architecturally, a heavy brick base and lighter metal accents and detailing break up the three-story facades. A mixture of exterior siding materials – corrugated metal, brick, lap siding, and reclaimed barnwood siding — further help in articulating the facades, creating a rich architectural composition.
