Willow Creek is a speculative development located on the Eagle River in Vail, Colorado consisting of three distinct single family residences. The goal of fitting the developer’s 3300 sf of program into the tight lot and restrictive height limit became the biggest challenge. This was accomplished while still creating wonderful light-filled interior spaces by incorporating a curved roof; thus, providing volume only where it is needed inside. Diagrammatically, the house is configured with utilitarian functions fronting the street, serving as a buffer to the intimate spaces facing the river. (Designed while working at Berglund Architects.)
